Welcome to Trauma-Informed Research
This is a place for advice, tips and strategies to create and maintain a psychologically protected work environment for agile teams carrying out trauma informed research.
Your first step: empower individuals and organisations to embrace a trauma-informed approach in their practices.
Preparing for Trauma-Informed User Research
Trauma-informed research practices create meaningful change in your research and can positively impact your work environment.
Unlike 'normal' research, trauma-informed research actively incorporates trauma-informed principles (safety, trust, choice, empowerment, collaboration, inclusivity and respect for diversity Fallot and Harris 2009) to create safer and supported research environment for all involved, even when the research is not trauma focused.
This approach anticipates potential triggers and enables planning to manage distress that may occur during the end to end research across all those actively involved in the research and also those exposed to the research outcomes.
Through actively implementing these principles we can proactively mitigate the risks involved in trauma and non-trauma focused research.
